Can I Build a Duplex on My Block in Sydney?

The cheapest mistake to avoid is paying for plans that can't be approved. A feasibility check answers the real question, can a duplex work here, and by which pathway, before you commit. It's the first thing we do, and often the most valuable.

The first five checks

  • Zoning and dual occupancy permissibility.
  • Lot size and frontage against CDC and council DA minimums.
  • Approval pathway, CDC, DA, or redesign first.
  • Overlays, flood, bushfire, heritage, easements, trees.
  • Your subdivision goal (Torrens or strata).

What you get

A preliminary read on whether a duplex is viable on your block, the likely approval pathway, and the constraints that will shape the design. If there's a fatal flaw, you'll know before you spend on full plans. If there's a path, you'll know what it looks like.

How to start

The fastest start is a phone call with your address. You can also send a survey and Section 10.7 planning certificate if you have them, the more we can review, the more definitive the advice.

Questions about feasibility & site assessment

No, feasibility is preliminary. It tells you whether a duplex is likely viable and which pathway fits, based on the controls. Definitive advice follows a review of your survey, the current controls and your planning certificate. We never guarantee approval.
